11/15/06 Surf Report - Clean Conditions

Clean, Clean, Clean! Ladies and Gentlemen. This morning the waves at Linda Mar are clean waist to shoulder high. Peeling lines, though a bit fast. Most of the waves look a little soft, but there are some steeper sections. Looks very nice out there...and it is sunny too! Catch some waves if you can.

hey do you know any more about the sewer spill at ocean beach and whether it affects the water quality at pacifica?

I haven't heard anything about a sewer spill. Where did you read about it? The water didn't smell too bad at Linda Mar this morning. I know Surfrider monitors the water.

Oh here is a report about it:
Sewage Overflow on Great Highway in SF on Monday, November 13, 2006

A neighborhood heads-up that a sewage overflow occurred on the Great Highway, adjacent to Ocean Beach, in San Francisco during the heavy rains on Monday night, November 13, 2006. The water treatment plant and/or the local runoff drainage system had some sort of failure and the result was a blown-open manhole cover and overflow onto the Great Highway. Crews cleaned up the streets overnight. However, the ocean water quality is probably very poor. A 2- to 3-feet deep trench dug through the sand at Kelly's Cove from the wall towards the ocean was a clear indicator that a large amount of sewage was dumped onto the beach.
